Candy Cane Stripes
Peppermint is one of those love it or hate it flavors, and I love it. At this time of year, I always get candy canes to eat, as well as decorate my Christmas tree with. The cool peppermint flavor and the red and white colors evoke Christmas for me.
Have you ever seen how candy canes are made? The white sugar forms a central core around which the alternating white and colored stripes are formed into a large log, which can be eight to twelve inches across. This log is then stretched thinner and thinner while being twisted into a thin candy cane shape.
In a similar way, we are all made up of different elements. There is our main personality at the center and the colorful stripes of our hobbies and interests. Events in life might stretch us out, or twist up our expectations, but this doesn’t change who we are. All of the important components are still there, just like in a candy cane.
Think about what makes you you. What is special and unique about you? And how can you use those gifts and talents to fill the world with love and joy?
